Our Manifesto
Who we are
Australian Feminists for Women’s Rights (AF4WR) is an incorporated association of left-wing feminists who campaign for the sex-based rights of women and girls, within the broader struggle for a more just and equal society.
Our mission
Women and girls must have full and equal recognition and participation in society – politically, economically and culturally. We advocate for evidence-based protections in law, policy and all social interactions, to enable and acknowledge our rights and needs specific to our sex.
We believe
-
Women and girls are discriminated against and abused because of our biological sex.
-
The ideology of ‘gender identity’ is grounded in sexist stereotypes and has no basis in reality. It represents an attack on the hard-won rights of women, is a danger to children and must be opposed.
-
There is no basis to the claim that all people have a gender identity. Children should not be coerced to have a gender identity.
-
Women and girls have the right to sex-based recognition and representation and to single-sex spaces, services and sports.
-
Male violence against women and children must be clearly identified, victims supported, and perpetrators punished.
-
Prostitution and pornography are dangerous for women; we support models such as the Nordic Model.
-
Women must have reproductive freedom and control over our own bodies, and abortion must be safe, legal, accessible and affordable.
-
Surrogacy is reproductive exploitation of women and an affront to the rights of the child.
-
The justice system (including the Family Court), policing and adjacent social service systems in Australia must be overhauled to place the safety of women and children at the centre.
-
Women have the right to freedom of expression and association, including the right to gather without men.
-
Lesbians are same-sex attracted women and should not be required to or coerced into accepting men in their spaces.
-
The importance of mothers must be valued by society and the mother-child bond protected and promoted.
What we do
-
We advocate for the rights of women and girls and against the institutionalisation of the logic of gender identity; we do so through public submissions and direct lobbying of politicians and Australian and international public institutions.
-
We research current issues affecting the sex-based rights of women and provide up-to-date, evidence-based information to politicians, the media and the public.
-
We form connections with other women’s rights groups to campaign together in support of our shared goals.
